training our Service Managers and Service Consultants.
All of us that were exposed to your dedication over
the six consecutive days were pleased and delighted
with your clear vision and common sense approach
to an area of our business that has been neglected
for too long.
In the days that followed we received
excellent feedback and support for the course instruction
and content from both our new and our long-standing
Service Managers. Your real world approach to the
issues was refreshing and helped inject energy into
each of our Service Departments. The follow up telephone
discussion was an effective activity that added a
little more resolve and focus at the Service Manager
level as well as the General Managers.
Thanks again for all of Performance’s
efforts to make this program available and financially
viable for our entire group. We see strong merit
in the program and feel confident in supporting it

I have been a Mazda Dealer since 1980 and have been involved with a Performance
Group since 1985.
I firmly believe that my association with not only Performance Incorporated
but with my fellow member dealers has certainly contributed to my continued
success as a dealer.
A Performance meetings is not a social affair, but a meeting with your fellow
car dealers for two solid days– three times a year. Also in addition
to the meetings you receive a comprehensive monthly report which is like a
report card and compares your own dealership results with your fellow
members actual results. All aspects of your business is compared, and
clearly shows where you stand compared to your fellow members. You have
to have your financial statement in to Performance by the 16th of the month,
and they then key punch it, and send you back a composite book. These
meetings give you the opportunity to share ideas and talk about the car business
with your fellow member dealers. The book is a handy tool to work with
your managers to help improve yourself.
Remember, there are no stories,, as you are all working with a report card
that is produced from your own financial statements. Everybody tells
you that business is great, but the real proof is the composite book. I
have never left a meeting without returning to my dealership and bringing something
back which either helped sales or decreased costs. Remember, sales minus
cost of sales is net profit. You can change 4 quarters for a dollar
at eh bank, you do not have to run a million dollar plus business without
a profit.
Our member dealers average net profit as a percentage of sales is 2.59%. How
do you rate? I know my association with Performance Incorporated has
done a lot for me over the years and I can honestly tell any dealers that
I am well over the average in this are of the book.
